Position Summary
The Special Education Teacher will support a caseload of special education and/or English Language Learner students at MDP. This individual will be responsible for maintenance of records for special needs students and oversight of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and will be the primary person responsible for ensuring that students on his/her caseload receive the proper accommodations and/or modifications within the classroom. The Special Education Teacher will report to the School Leader.

Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching Responsibilities · Practice and develop Key Teacher Skills daily · Bring joy and excitement to the work everyday · Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards · Use assessment data and feedback structures to inform your instructional decisions · Observe and provide feedback for other teachers · Uphold MDP’s detailed and consistent behavioral systems · Communicate with students with optimistic growth mindset language · Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards · Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues Student and Family Support · Review special education needs of incoming students, as indicated on family questionnaire responses · Provide direct special education services as needed and facilitate evaluation/reevaluation process · Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local special education regulations regarding parental consent · Serve as the point of contact for parents of students with special needs Staff Support · Ensure that all Teachers know and understand classroom accommodations for the special needs students they serve · Work directly with general education teachers on issues that may arise in classroom settings Compliance and Coordination · Coordinate with instructional team to monitor implementation of appropriate accommodations for students during instruction · Coordinate with schools to receive IEPs of incoming students · Facilitate review of intake assessments for incoming students · Schedule and coordinate pull-out services for students on an as-needed basis · Follow all federal, state, and local guidelines concerning the development and implementation of IEPs · Additional duties as assigned

Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree required · Valid TN State Teacher Certification
