Dear Memphis Delta Prep Family,
As we prepare for another exciting school year, I am filled with gratitude and pride as I enter my fifth year serving as the School Leader of Memphis Delta Prep Charter School. Since 2016, I’ve had the honor of working alongside our dedicated staff and incredible families here in South Memphis. I remain deeply committed to this community and energized by the opportunity to continue building an excellent school for our students.
In 2009, I began my teaching career right around the corner on Kerr Avenue at St. Augustine Catholic School, where I taught English Language Arts and coached basketball for three years. It was during that time that I fell in love with South Memphis. In 2016, I returned to help open Memphis Delta Prep as an Instructional Coach and later served as the Director of Student Support. Over the years, this community has become a second home to my husband, Nick, and our children, Nyjer and Lola, and me.
At MDP, our mission remains clear: to provide a high-quality education that equips every student with the tools to succeed academically and thrive emotionally. As we enter this new school year, we are focused, driven, and committed to ensuring excellence in academic achievement while fostering a learning environment rooted in social-emotional learning, restorative justice, and trauma-informed practices. We believe that student success comes from both rigorous academics and a deep sense of belonging, safety, and support, and we are unwavering in our dedication to both.
This year, we are excited to welcome students back into a building filled with passionate educators who believe in their potential and are committed to practice, smile, and grow alongside them every single day. We know the work ahead requires heart, skill, and partnership, and we’re ready.
